Två av vår skolas kvinnliga lärare har nu, tack vare stöd från Sverige, påbörjat sina studier vid Lärarhögskolan i landet. Mariama och Kumba undervisar fortfarande sina klasser vid skolan i Portee, men helger och ett antal kvällar reser de till universitetet för att på sikt erhålla sina lärarlegitimationer.
Här ett brev från dem!
We are very happy because we are in collage now. We want to thank the Swedish team and members of Vänföreningen Portee. We appreciate your help so much.
We do not have the opportunity to enroll in collage because we cannot afford to pay the fees. With your support, we develop ourselves and will be able to deliver better education for our students. As a School Teacher working, we normally go for classes during the holidays and on weekend.
Our status has changed among our peers. We hope that the government will approve and pay us after being qualified. This will enable us take care of our families. May God bless you.
